I apologize for being so tardy on Gayle’s Desk, I was gone for a little R&R and I have been sick with the bronchial flu every since I got back. They say this lasts around 3 weeks or so and I am now on week number 2 and I am still feeling pretty rough. I wasn’t able to get my flu shot this year (every time I went they were out) and that won’t happen again. I will camp out in the flu shot line if I have to.
There has been quite a few things going on around here. We did a trade show in West Lafayette last weekend. We were with the Bill Gardiner RV Show. We were getting a lot of interest about the track at the show and offered drawings for grandstand tickets.
Bob took part of the day on Saturday (26th) and went to Rensselaer, IN for the swap meet put on by Stan Larson and Scott Madison. He said that was a good show and maybe could have used a little more space.
This month is going to be a busy one with trying to get the track ready, hopefully Mother Nature will let up enough to get everything done. I am keeping my fingers crossed for warm weather and tulips. Speaking of tulips mine are poking up out of the ground in my weed garden, so maybe spring is just around the corner.
Don’t forget about the annual Easter Egg Hunt put on by WKHY. There has been a slight change of plans, instead of Columbian Park the location has been moved to the new football stadium at Jefferson High School in Lafayette. We could use another car or two for that event, so if you are interested give me a call. The date for that event is March 26th.
Don’t forget about the mall show coming up on April 1st, 2nd & 3rd , we have some great cars lined up for the show. We will be having ticket drawings and live radio broadcast through out the weekend, so don’t forget to mark your calendars for that. We will be center court so we will be the main attraction for the weekend you can’t miss us. The cars being showcased are LM’s- Rob Starkey & Mark Stetler, Modifieds- Ron Matthys, Brian Fultz, JR Coyner, Derek Losh & Jammie Wilson, Super Street- Mike Roundtree & Jonah Buyno, Street Stock- Lee Hall and Modified Lite Dwarf Car- Larry drake.
If I come up missing at the show you might want to try looking at LS Ayres, just follow the credit card smoke, that will be me at the other end of it. Maybe that’s what Bob meant when he said he was card-napping my Visa card, ah! but never fear for everything else there’s Mastercard
Brian and Chad Osterhoff have officially taken over promoting Kankakee Motor Speedway. We talked to Brian this weekend and everything seems to be falling into place for them. We want to wish them good luck on a great season. I also talked with Don Hammer this afternoon and everything is falling into place over at Farmer City as well. We also want to wish Don and Bonny a successful season.
Wow! Do we have March birthdays or what? Not only at KMS but in our household as well. March always keeps my wallet empty with all the birthdays. I do want to wish two very special people to us Happy Birthdays. That would be our youngest daughter Andrea Killian. Andrea will celebrate her birthday on March 9th and Sydney Wilson, Sydney will celebrate her birthday on March 8th. I have a gift day this month but that only counts for getting gifts not getting older.
We have a few congratulations that I have been made aware of in the past few weeks. We want to congratulate Brian Rickey on his and Lisha’s marriage coming up on March 12th and we want to congratulate Jerrad Krick and Andrea Buyno on their engagement.
I want to send our thoughts and prayers to the 766th EOD serving in Iraq as well as the rest of our armed forces serving throughout the world. On a good note the 766th should be home by the end of March if all goes well. I am especially happy to hear that news as that will bring my nephew Sean back home.
In closing I just want to leave you with one of my favorite thoughts.
“Always remember yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present. Live and savor every moment, life is not a dress rehearsal.”
So until next time be happy and be safe.
