Happy New Year

First of all I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that the New Year brings prosperity to you and your families. We had a nice Christmas with family, grandkids and friends and are looking forward to going to the Heckenast/McMartin wedding on New Year’s Eve. I can’t think of a better way to end 2009 than with the joining of two hearts for the incoming new year plus one heck of a New Year’s Eve Party.
So from our home to yours have a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

As the New Year approaches changes are in the works for us. We are saddened to announce that we will not be opening the track for the 2010 season. This decision is from health reason both here and in Paducah Kentucky. Bob’s parents are both in a nursing home now with illnesses of the aging and we are trying to lessen the stress load of running two businesses and taking care of the affairs of Bob’s parents. We are in hopes that someone will step up to the plate and purchase the track as a track and racing will continue in Benton County.

I do want to thank everyone for their loyalty and friendship that has been shown for the past seven years and as Bob Hope would say “Thank’s for the Memories”.

Bob and Gayle

Merry Christmas

I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Gayle

Thank You

I would like to say thank you to everyone that supported us at the 2009 Kamp Motor Speedway Banquet. I think everyone had a good time I know I did. I think everyone realized what a challenge 2009 was for us and no one hated not having point money more than Bob and I did. I announced at the banquet that the whole party was put on by a frayed shoe string but you came and we had food, trophies, jackets and plaques plus we partied and had a good time. So from the bottom of my heart “Thank You”.

The biggest disappointment at the banquet was the Late Model class with the exception of (Guy Volk who lost the most in point money) and Justin Sondgeroth. We started the 2009 season with nothing and we kicked around dropping the Late Models because of the size of the purse. We however couldn’t find it in our hearts not to run these guys each week. We pushed on to try and get through the season not only for the Modifieds, Street Stocks and Sportsman but for the Late Models too. So when no Late Model drivers (except the Champion Guy Volk and the Rookie Justin Sondgeroth) bothered to come to the banquet it was like a kick in my gut. I have your trophies at K-Motion so they can be picked up here. I am not going to make any special effort to get them to you. I do want to give a special thank you to Guy Volk and his crew and to Justin Sondgeroth, his family and crew for coming and for representing the Late Model class.

I know everyone is waiting for an announcement but at this time I do not have a clear announcement to make. I don’t know what the winter will bring. I don’t know if someone will step up to the plate with sponsorship or to take it over. Right now my whole life seems to be in a dark tunnel with no real bright light to show me the way out. I am just having to cross my fingers, breath in and breath out and hope a miracle of some sort materializes over the winter.

In closing I again would like to thank the drivers who supported us by coming to the banquet and for showing up each and every Saturday night this year. I would also like to thank the drivers, fans, sponsors and employees who have supported us for the past seven years we could not have done it without all of you. I am in high hopes that things will start to turn in a better direction over the winter months.

Thank You,

Gayle

Banquet November 7th

The banquet is November 7th at the Moose Lodge in Lafayette. I am getting very little response on it. I had so many people ask if we are having one so I am trying very hard to put one together. I am sad to say there is no point money this year. I was very careful not to advertise the K-Motion Valve Springs as being a sponsor. We lost our sponsorship of the springs because of the economy this year. We simply can’t afford to do a point fund because of the financial outcome of this years racing. We are however trying to have a racing party with trophies, food, champion jackets and awards to celebrate the top ten drivers in each class. . The tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. This is to help pay for food and the rental of the facility. I am not selling tickets at the door and because of purchasing food I need to know how many I can expect. In order to put this together I need a head count by October 30th.

You can contact me at K-Motion Racing at 765-742-8494 or my cell phone at 765-532-1621. You can mail your money and I will gladly mail your tickets back to you.

Thanks,

Gayle

Kamp Motor Speedway Banquet November 7th, 2009

The 2009 Kamp Motor Speedway Banquet will be held at the Moose Lodge at 3601 Union Street in Lafayette, Indiana on November 7th, 2009.
The doors will open at 5:00 P.M. EDT.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids under 12 and may be purchased at K-Motion Racing in Lafayette, Indiana or by calling 765-742-8494 or 765-532-1621.

I had originally planned a hogroast at the track but the Indiana weather in September and October scared me and I didn’t want to plan something and the weather mess everything up.

Kamp Motor Speedway Closed for the 2009 Season

I am sorry to announce that we will not be racing the last race of the season. I was in hopes of a good night this past Saturday so we could continue but that did not happen. More money is going out than coming in and we can not continue. The lack of fans at KMS has been an ongoing battle for the last couple years with this year being the worst. Now before everyone points out what we have done wrong let me tell you we have given our all to the speedway. I believe the economy has caused low car and spectator counts this season.

We are planning a banquet/hogroast and possible swap meet at the track sometime in October. I haven’t gotten those details arranged yet. I will post something when I do.

Thanks to all of our loyal drivers and fans.

Gayle
