UMP Membership and Kamp Motor Speedway membership required.
Chassis
Only full frame, American made cars or trucks or full size Uni-body cars with a stock wheelbase of one hundred seven (107) inches or more will be allowed. No Camaros, Firebirds, or Novas etc… are allowed. Stock O.E.M. frames only. No altering of stock frame except to repair rusted rear frame rails. Rear frame may be replaced from rear shock mounts back. Shocks must remain in stock mounting points in stock location. No altering of upper A frame mounts, no turning or sliding in or out. Re-welds may be made on robot welds but no relocating. Lower A frame holes to be stock and in stock location. No relocating of upper or lower mounting holes on rear of frame. No re-drilling. Drive shaft loops are required within (12) inches of the front U-joint. No aluminum drive shafts.
Body
All glass, chrome and upholstery must be removed. Tops may be removed to install the roll cage, but the top must be replaced in the stock location. Doors can be cut out for door bars. Fender wells may only be cut out for tire clearance. Floorboards and firewalls must meet UMP specifications, floorboard may be cut to accept the roll cage. No open holes in firewall allowed. Trunk area may be cut to allow for mandatory fuel cell. The fuel cell must be a steel container with a two (2) inch by one-eighth (1/8) inch steel strap on each side, to securely mount the fuel cell. Body must be mounted in stock location. No exposed tubing or braces outside of bodyline of car. All body parts must be steel, nose may be stock appearing aftermarket for body style used.
Suspension
All suspension components must remain stock, except for racing shocks and springs that are mounted in stock locations. Adjustable spring cups are allowed. The steering shaft and steering wheel can be modified by adding shaft and quick release for safety. Steering quickners are allowed. Sweet steering is optional. Tie rods, center link, spindles, idler arms to be same as frame being used.
Stock O.E.M. upper A frames or aftermarket tubular A frames (lengths must be stock). They must match frame being used. Metric to Metric, Chevelle to Chevelle, etc… Stock upper ball joints only. No adjustable or truck ball joints. No cutting of A frame allowed to accept any other ball joint. A frames may be reinforced along edges by welding round stock (no changing lengths). Lower rear trailing arms to be stock length to frame being used, metric-to-metric, chevelle to chevelle, etc… Upper rear trailing arms may be shortened or lengthened to obtain correct pinion angle. Aftermarket bushings are allowed as long as arm is not altered, no slots or adjustable ends.
Rear Ends & Brakes
Rear ends may be locked with mini-spool or by welding spider gears. Due to inherent axle problems with some rear ends, a 9” Ford rear end may be substituted. Floater rear ends are allowed. All GM or “c-clip” type rear ends must use the Moser Engineering after market axles. Stock O.E.M. brakes only. After market master cylinder and pedal allowed.
Engine & Carburetors
No aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Any cast iron head is allowed. The engine and body must be manufactured by the same corporate manufacturer (i.e. GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc.). Aluminum intake manifolds are allowed. Exhaust headers are allowed. Exhaust must exit away from the track surface. No Racing distributors allowed. HEI distributors are allowed. No MSD boxes. Roller tip rockers are allowed. Aluminum radiators are allowed. The 500 CFM 4412 Holley is the only carburetor allowed. The choke blade can be removed, but the original choke tower must be retained. No other modifications. Engine set back can be no farther back than the second spark plug on the driver’s side, even with the upper ball joint.
Tires & Wheels
Steel racing wheels up to eight (8) inches maximum width are allowed. No aluminum or mag wheels or homemade wheels are allowed. One (1) inch lug nuts are mandatory on both sides of the vehicle. The A40 Hoosiers will be the only tire allowed.
Transmission
Any automatic transmission allowed. Any manual transmission allowed this includes Berts, Brinns and Falcons. Any clutch/flywheel combination may be used. Aftermarket clutch pedal and slave cylinder allowed.
Roll Cage
A competition-type four (4) point roll cage is required and must be constructed with tubing that is a minimum of one and one-half (1-½) inches in diameter, with a minimum of .095 wall thickness. A minimum of three (3) horizontal door bars is required in the driver’s door. A minimum of three (3) horizontal bars is required for the passenger side of the car. Three (3) driver protection bars are required in the windshield, ahead of the driver. You may run front and rear bars through the stock firewall, with one (1) kicker bar going to the frame. A radiator protection bar is optional.
Safety
A competition-type racing seat is required. An aluminum seat is highly recommended. Seat must be mounted a minimum of 30 inches in front of the center of rear axle to point where shoulder harness goes through seat. A five (5) point, three (3) inch safety harness is required. An approved, Snell SA 2000 helmet or a Snell 2005 helmet (Snell sticker must be in the helmet). Complete fire suit, with fireproof gloves, fireproof shoes and neck collar are required. A driver’s side window net is highly recommended. All batteries that are mounted inside the driver’s compartment must be completely enclosed in a marine-type box, with a lid, and mounted securely.
Miscellaneous
The top five (5) finishers will be inspected at the end of the race and if found illegal, all monies, trophies and earned points will be forfeited. Tow chains are mandatory on the front and rear of the car and must be capable of supporting the weight of the car. All cars are to be clearly lettered with the car numbers at least twenty-four (24) inches high on both sides and the top of the car. The car number must also be on the front and rear of the car. The car number must stand out from other lettering on the car. If you know that there is another car with the same number as yours, you may want to add a letter. If there is another car with the same number as yours, you might be asked to add an ‘X’. All cars must weigh 3200 pounds with the driver. The top five (5) finishers in all races must weigh. Drive shafts must be painted white and remain white all season. Bolt in weight must be painted white and car number on weight.
Notice to All Drivers & Car Owners
No equipment that has passed through technical inspection unobserved will be considered as having been approved. It is the responsibility of the car owner and driver to be sure that the car is legal. If you have any questions, be sure to ask a track official. All cars are subject to weekly technical inspection. There will be no refund of any admission, pit or entry fees if a car fails to pass technical inspection. Since rules may not cover every incident that may occur, the decision of the track promoter and/or technical inspector will be considered final. If you are asked to make changes to your car, the changes must be made immediately. Please don’t ask if the car can be run as-is. If a car should be found illegal at the end of the race, all monies, trophies, and earned points will be forfeited.
All drivers are responsible for the actions of their pit crews. Any activity that is deemed to be poor conduct will result in the driver, car owner and crewmembers being suspended for a period of time established by the track promoter. In addition, a fine not exceeding one thousand (1,000) dollars must be paid prior to reinstatement.
The rules and/or regulations established herein are designed to establish minimum, acceptable requirements for a racing event and provide for the orderly conduct of these racing events. All participants, through participation in these racing events are expected to comply with these rules and regulations.
These rules and regulations are intended to be used as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against death and/or injury to a participant, spectator or official. As such, no expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from the publication of, or compliance with these rules and/or regulations.
The race promoter shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein, or impose any further restrictions that, in his sole opinion, do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of these specifications. Any and all interpretation of or deviation from these rules and regulations is left to the discretion of the track officials and their decision/s will be final.
Special Note
No alcoholic beverages or drugs are allowed. Any driver found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will face immediate suspension from all activities concerning Kamp Motor Speedway for a period of time set forth by the track promoter.
